Early January 1980 was a very special time for me. For one, it was my first visit to Park City during a Look ski bindings sales meeting and another striking remembrance was that there was no snow.
We all brought our gear to ski, but snow wasn't there and we ended up meeting at the new Racquet Club condos where we were all staying. Philippe Blime, Jean-François Deschamps, Dennis Harrington and John Pike were all there.
Instead of skiing, we ended up frustrating ourselves with a line of bindings that for most models was unsaleable and I'm sure, deep inside, hating the jam we were in.
Snow conditions were about the same as they are today, 35 year later, except that in those days, snow-making wasn't yet the norm in the Rockies!
